Alecia Beth Moore ~ P!NK

Tonight I have a manipulated caricature of "P!nk". It was requested by a Deviant Art friend of mine. I was going great today, right on schedule and then a transformer blew in front of my house so we lost power for quite a while. It really set me back but I was determined to get this one done and posted before I go to bed. I ended up making pretty good time. I've been staring at it for a couple of hours finishing up details so I don't know if it's ok or sucks. I'll let you be the judge. I'm going to sleep!

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping bt and have a great day!

Making a new Morph Movie

I didn't get a caricature done tonight because I've been working on this morph movie for a Behance project and YouTube video. I didn't want to have nothing to post so I did a screen capture of what I'm working on so see, I'm not just being lazy. Wow about that half Kanye, half Trump pic. Pretty geeky looking. I have a certain person in mind for tomorrow's post so stay tuned.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Sean Connery ~ FHM Magazine

Tonight I'm posting a manipulated caricature illustration commissioned by FHM Magazine / Bauer Media. This was my second commission from FHM, only one piece on this job. I wasn't totally pleased with him but they liked him and I guess that's what counts...well maybe not all that counts but it gets you paid. That's all I'm going to post of FHM work for the time being so I'll be back to my daily experiments tomorrow. I also have a video on the way. It should be finished in a couple of days.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Lindsay Lohan ~ FHM Magazine

Tonight I'm posting a manipulated caricature of Lindsay Lohan which was a commissioned caricature used to illustrate a story in FHM Magazine about celebrities with attitudes. She is the fourth of that five-piece commission. I'm posting these just as they were delivered to FHM. It's kind of bland with the white background but I don't want to alter any of these images.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Jermaine Defoe ~ FHM Magazine

Tonight I'm posting the third of a five-piece commission for FHM Magazine / Bauer Media. I had no idea who this guy was even after I was finished with the job. I just Googled him to find out so I wouldn't sound ignorant. He's an English footballer or soccer player to us in the US. Again, I am posting these just they way they were delivered, unaltered. Well that's three down, two to go and then I'll move on to the second FHM job. If you're wondering what I'm doing while posting these images which were done months ago, I'm working on another video project, and doing a little relaxing. Fill you in on that later.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Donald Trump ~ FHM Magazine

Tonight I'm posting a manipulated caricature of Donald Trump which was a commissioned caricature used to illustrate a story in FHM Magazine about celebrities with attitudes. I think he fits in quite well. He is the second of that five-piece commission. I'm posting these just as they were delivered to FHM. It's kind of bland with the white background but I don't want to alter any of these images. Two down and three more to come.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Kanye West from FHM Magazine

Tonight's post is a manipulated caricature of Kanye West which was used in my first FHM magazine / Bauer Media commission. This is the right side of what was a two-page spread. The story I illustrated had five images of celebrities with a sort of cocky attitudes and the other four will be posted over the next few days. I also got an OK to post the second FHM commission so I have five more images coming in the next few days.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Ernest Borgnine

Tonight I have an oldie, Ernest Borgnine. I've been wanting to do him with that huge smile and that famous gap. Finished early tonight so I'm going to turn in and watch a little TV before bedtime.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day and be inspired!

Martina Navratilova

I'm done with the commissions for now so I'm back to doing my manipulated caricatures for practice mainly and to have something to show you guys. I realize every day just how much I have yet to learn. Tonight I chose Martina Navratilova. It's not as colorful as I what I usually do, but she's just not very colorful. Blank stare, dull and colorless. Sorry Martina, the truth hurts. Maybe you should put on a little make-up every now and then. This was not intended to be a show piece. It's all about practice, and learning right now.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day and be inspired!

Update: FHM WIP / Artist Feature / Interview

Hello all! Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been kind of busy lately. Man, when all of these jobs I'm doing get published, you're going to get tired of seeing them. I think I have ten illustrations complete that I haven't been able to show yet. I'm just finishing up my latest commission for FHM magazine so I will be able to get back to my scheduled postings in the next day or two. Here's a sneak peak at the job I'm working on right now. It's a two-page spread featuring two Italian Soccer players. I think it's going to make for a good illustration. See if you can guess who's twisted stare this is. I will start posting as soon as I get the OK.

I was honored to be the featured artist for pxleyes.com this week. There are fifty of my works featured as well as an interview, so if any of you are interested in knowing a little more about me, drop in and check it out. The title above is a link to the feature. If you've never heard of pxleye before, they offer all kinds of great stuff like Photoshop contests with cash prizes, a blog, forums, tutorials, stock, fonts and the list goes on. It's also a great place to network with your artist friends, and it's free. Check them out, it's a great site.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Alan Greenspan III

Alan Greenspan for the third time. He just has great features for a caricature. I took it pretty east on him this time. Any Photoshop whizzes out there? How can you eliminate or reduce banding when applying a  gradient? Seems to be worse when you use it as an overlay. And you better have the levels correct when the gradient is applied, because when you adjust levels or saturation after the gradient is applied, the banding gets much worse. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I tried every trick I know and I still ended up with banding on this one. Oh well, live and learn.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

New Commission from FHM Magazine

I received some good news this evening. I have been commissioned again by FHM Magazine to do a two page spread illustration. FHM Magazine is owned by Bauer Media Group. I discovered just tonight how large this company really is. The Bauer Publishing Group comprises 282 magazines worldwide in 15 countries, as well as TV and radio stations. I am very fortunate and truly honored to be starting my 4th commission for Bauer Media. This one is going to be cool...I hope. They are giving me free rein on this project only requiring that I use the two celebrities who will be featured and that it illustrate the story, obviously. I get to cut loose and make something crazy on this one, so it should be a lot of fun. I will keep you posted. BTW, The first 5-piece commission I did for FHM is out on news stands. I'm waiting on my case of magazines to arrive and I will post the work.

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Alan Greenspan 3 WIP

Alan Greenspan number 3 (third time). Gotta love this guy. He's ugly as sin which makes for a great caricature subject. I'll finish him up tomorrow.  Goodnight all!

I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

The Art of István Sándorfi

István Sándorfi was born in 1948 in Budapest, Hungary. From the age of ten he lived in Paris, where he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs. Sandorfi died in December, 2007.

Sándorfi's paintings are fascinating in their 'unfinished' states. Their beauty not only lies in their realism, but in the manner in which they appear imperfect. Phantasmal imagery and bleeding paint come alive in his works of seemingly mundane events. Sandorfi’s painting style blends a meticulous realistic technique with elements of surrealism. His work has been featured for the past three decades in important European galleries including Isy Brachot, Brussels. His provocative draped figures and still lifes appear in important private collections and museums on several continents, notably Centre Georges Pompidou, Musee de la Ville de Paris, Kunsthalle in Nuremberg, and the Taiwan Museum of Art, among others. A show at the Arnot Museum in upstate New York featured two of his recent paintings. Art Fairs at which his works have been exhibited include FIAC, Basel, Ghent, Art Miami, ArtFair Seattle, and New York’s International 20th Century Arts Fair.

He prefeed to paint at night, but each day goes to bed later than the day before, thus living in a perpetual time lag, which sidelines him from any social life. Sandorfi reconciles this isolation with his family circle (he is the father of two girls, Ange and Eve) and his emotional life, thereby maintaining a delicate and studied balance between his life and his work.
“I never had the impression that I really knew how to paint, not in the past, not now. If you paint, you are simply never satisfied.” ~ István Sándorfi
